I’m totally happy this evening, installed a Mint OS with Portainer, Docker, Tailscale etc etc and after all that work and tinkering and pulling hair at times…IT WORKS MINT!
Now in comes RESTIC, one command now I’m taking snapshots of it all and restoring 4Gigs of pulls in 51 seconds…OMG THANK YOU everyone that chipped in! I go to bed NOW!

restic truly is the GOAT. 2TBs backed up on backblaze and restic hasn’t missed a beat. The speed is what gets me. Absurdly fast.

I will enthusiastically join this gang of enthusiasts. I’ve used many backups over the years. None compare with the reliability and ease of use of Restic. And then there’s the efficiency - aka “speed”. OMG. Some things just make the world work better, and thus are major contributions to the world of earnest workers. Restic is one of them. I am, and always will be, grateful for having discovered it.
And the community that responds to problems reported here is equally great: fast, smart, earnest, and so helpful. I cannot contribute much here, due to my fundamental lack of knowledge in this domain, but restic and its community enable me to operate reliably and securely in my own domain of trauma psychotherapy. When we help others, we never really know how far the effect spreads. In this case, if you knew you just might be amazed.
