BackBlaze recently decided to enable its own encryption process by default. So any newly uploaded files will automatically be encrypted starting 14th September. Source
My question is: Will this break existing Restic repos encrypted with Restic?
Seems very clear reading the article you linked to that no, it won’t.
What part of the article makes you concerned it will?

I didn’t read the article or can help about the BackBlaze topic. But I am pretty sure that this won’t break an existing restic repo. This is all about how the data is stored and accessed within Backblaze, not at all about the repository. So if this is an issue, it is an issue about breaking access to the repository files. (And as BackBlaze’s business is to provide storage for files and access to them - and you trusted this business by choosing it - you have to trust that they will ensure their business still works after this change 
)
