Any plan to use XChaCha20-Poly1305 or AES-GCM or Linsodium secret box?
Not suggesting, just seeing what is on the horizon.
No, not without a good reason. We’d need to add this to the code and the storage format, which introduces additional complexity and IMHO isn’t worth it.
If we were to start restic from scratch today, we’d probably chose differently, but for now the format is as it is.
