Hi all,
Before I used to store all my personal & business files on Synology Folder.
But I had Snapshot Replication enabled on those folders. (Snapshot Replication for local only)
Recently i changed my direction, im just storing my restic repos on Synology Folder.
Wondering if anyone has something similar Snapshot Replication enabled for this nas folders for this restic repos
If i had my files raw stored on the NAS, i will have Snapshot Replication enabled.
But with restic repos folders im planing to disabling Snapshot Replication
Honestly main reasons i had it enabled was;
if you get hacked with Ransomware, you have a snapshot to go back before the hack\
restore old files
Centralize data storage and backup, streamline file collaboration, optimize video management, and secure network deployment to facilitate data management.
@adamol I see no reason to enable Shapshot Replication for your restic repository.
Just make sure it is not your only backup else it can be gone in case of theft, lightning and other calamities. Read about the well known 3-2-1 backup rule and apply it to your situation. Backups are worth nothing if you cannot restore 8-)

i know, just 60/40 of disabling Snapshot Replication, as i will have mutliple backups “to my backup strategy”
as the Synology is using extra storage to store for local Shapshot Replication
