Fatal: unable to save snapshot: node "Local State" already present

I get this error when trying to make first, initial backup. I have no idea what it even means.

I’m using restic with S3 backend.

From the code search, the error appears to be generated here:

Please provide some additional information: which operating system and restic version are you using? A little more log output would also be helpful.

The error sounds an awful lot like restic on windows 2016 server backup isue 'file xxx already present'. · Issue #1866 · restic/restic · GitHub . On Windows this can usually be triggered by having file named Local State and Local State. in the same folder. On other operating systems this error indicates a damaged file system, please run fsck in that case.
