I went to do a routine backup this morning, the process started working but then got a “no space left on device error”.
But I have an 8TB external harddrive that has lots of space on it. Has anyone seen this error before?
Please specify the restic version you use, as well as paste the complete command you run when getting that message, including its output.
Actually, it is because my / is full and I guess restic needs some room in / that’s okay I will take care of this. Thanks for the response.

Yeah, restic stores a cache in $HOME
. You can always opt not to use a cache with --no-cache
.

Alternatively use --cache-dir
and specify a directory with sufficient space.
