Load (Key/xxxx) does not exist

Would like to get some help on strange error.

Testing mount function to restore backups.

Using simple

RESTIC_PASSWORD=myPassword \
        restic -r rclone:onedrive_business:Backup/Restic \
        mount  /home/username/mountpoint

I get the following errors:

Load(<key/05d4ccaece>, 0, 0) returned error, retrying after 720.254544ms: <key/05d4ccaece> does not exist
Load(<key/05d4ccaece>, 0, 0) returned error, retrying after 873.42004ms: <key/05d4ccaece> does not exist
Load(<key/05d4ccaece>, 0, 0) returned error, retrying after 1.054928461s: <key/05d4ccaece> does not exist
(((elided 5 more retries)))
Load(<key/05d4ccaece>, 0, 0) returned error, retrying after 19.514091959s: <key/05d4ccaece> does not exist
Fatal: <key/05d4ccaece> does not exist

This is on WSL2.

Interesting, when run on another machine - don’t have this error (tested on two seperate VMs). So may be something wrong with the WSL2 setup but rclone lsd onedrivebusiness: output is as expected and is fine. I am wondering where else to look for configuration brokenness.

All running restic 0.12 on linux/amd64 if it helps.

I’m wondering if this might be caused by an outdated cache. Could you please add the --no-cache flag and try again:

RESTIC_PASSWORD=myPassword \
        restic -r rclone:onedrive_business:Backup/Restic \
        --no-cache mount /home/username/mountpoint

Looks like dead end. I tried the flag as well as deleting ~/.cache/restic and both still don’t help :frowning:

Sorry, I have no idea what could be wrong. I’ve never seen this before. If noone else has an idea you might need to open an issue on Github.

Out of curiosity: Is everything else working on this machine? Do restic key list and rclone lsl onedrive_business:Backup/Restic/keys print the same IDs?

when I do restic key list I get the same key not found error.

The rclone lsl gives the below, so I think the key exists. Does look like a big mystery (particularly as
things appear to work elsewhere…)
