Forcing full content comparison

#1

As far as i see in the restic documentation, when i backup a folder that was already backed up, restic may not check the contents of each and every file. Only those files whose meta-data (modification time, size, etc.) indicates that they were changed, are being checked for content changes.

Is there a way to force full content comparison of the folder being backed up (usually done by calculating file checksums)?

It is a little pedantic, but under some circumstances file meta-data may be deceiving.

Yes, and the flag is actually called --force.

$ restic backup --help | grep force
-f, --force force re-reading the target files/directories (overrides the “parent” flag)
